Good morning! This month, I was inspired to save my money. And when I’m in, I’m ALL IN.
Here are my tips and tricks for saving money.
I was worse at this than I thought, but a girl can try.
- Go through your wallet. I found so many gift cards and coupons that I never knew I had and cannot wait to use now!
- Print out a tracker. I downloaded this No Spend Tracker from Bloom Budget and it’s been so helpful! I don’t even want to spend money because it shows up another colour on the chart that everyone can see I cheated.
- Necessities don’t count. Pay for your rent, groceries, gas, things you CANNOT live without and you don’t have to count that as “spending”.
- Paint your own nails. You know you can, and don’t worry, there’s always room for improvement.
- Go for walks with friends. Get outside and enjoy the nice weather while it lasts!
- Make your own coffee.
- Eat at home. I share SO many recipes on my blog and most of them are simple and minimal ingredients to help! Or literally search in Pinterest “easy, dinner ideas”. Eating out is such a money grab and I believe should be a once-in-a-while treat.
When you do start shopping again:
- Use Rakuten! I get cash back when shopping and my cheques come in the mail automatically which is super nice.
- Use Honey. I downloaded this extension and it gets me the best discounts when shopping online.
- Find discount codes. Yes Honey has amazing discount codes but I also look for influencer’s codes because those ones are not on Honey. I have some in the Highlights of my Instagram, I also know that Delaney Childs does, my friend Vienna does, But What Should I Wear does, What We Said Podcast does…
- I got my own credit card!!! It’s a student Visa but nonetheless, I am excited to build my credit score and start adulting. Make shopping count for something.
This month was hard, but tracking which days I spent money made me realize how much money I spend and how often!! I do have an Autumn Wishlist blog post coming out soon though…
